Question and Answer with Shveta from Mali and Kai

1) Why have you decided to join Cress?

At Mali & Kai, we’re not just about crafting beautiful, eco-friendly products – we’re on a
heartfelt mission to make a positive mark on the world. That’s why we’re thrilled to join
CRESS, a platform that shares our deep love for sustainability and ethical craftsmanship.
Hand making each product is not just a process for us; it’s a labour of love and dedication to
leaving a smaller footprint on our planet. CRESS, with its focus on supporting sustainable
brands, feels like the perfect community for us to connect with. It’s not just about
showcasing our creations; it’s about joining hands with like-minded individuals who believe,
as we do, in the power of small, conscious choices. By teaming up with CRESS, we’re not just growing our brand; we’re growing a collective movement toward a greener, more mindful
future. Together, we’re not just selling products; we’re weaving stories of sustainability, one
handmade piece at a time.

2) What inspired your business?

My Business culminated amid the pandemic when like many others I lost all my textiles
freelance work, it gave me an opportunity to not only learn a new skill- believe it or not I
had never used water colour before letting alone paint animals! But it gave me a chance to
do things I loved and knew would help my then 3-year-old son learn his alphabets. One
thing led to another and after I did the animal flash cards, I did the fruits and vegetables, the
underwater world A-Z flash cards and before I knew it had a life of its own.

3) What is your favourite product of yours?

My favourite product from my shop would be the Endangered Species Cards, they are a
fantastic way to talk to your children about how some animals are here today and gone
forever, and we can play a huge part in trying to stop that from happening. It’s not just a set
of facts but a gateway to heartfelt conversations between caring adults and curious kids,
sparking empathy and understanding for our precious wildlife. More than lessons, these
cards plant seeds of empowerment, showing children that their actions matter in the grand
scheme of conservation.

4) Do you have any great feedback or memories of children using your products?

Our products are loved by all, and we take feedback very seriously, we are happy to
tailor to your needs, for example a Montessori school teacher in America wanted the
Alphabet Flash Cards to be A4 and we were happy to do that for her, another mom
requested a ring to hold the cards together and we were able to adapt our product to
suit her. Overall, every single sale has meant the world to us and most importantly
every single thank you and review makes everything we do more worthwhile.
